TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION, please visit our website at www.redmond.gov Summary : Under the direction of the Development Review Planning Manager, review development plans and proposals for conformance to zoning and subdivision regulations and design guidelines and codes in areas of land use, urban design, utilities, transportation, subdivision, and environmental review. Project reviews involve technical analysis for compliance with City zoning code, design standards, environmental regulations, subdivision regulations, and SEPA processes.

The incumbent would review projects for impacts and identify appropriate mitigation; have certain discretionary interpretation; work extensively with and have involvement in decision making and negotiation with architects, engineers, attorneys, citizens, and representatives of! local, county, and state jurisdictions. Act as liaison with o! ther City departments to evaluate and resolve issues related to code requirements and coordinate projects to ensure that department policies and decisions are compatible with City Councils directives and expectations. Research, prepare, and present oral and written reports on the impacts of development proposals upon the natural and man-made environment. May coordinate and conduct research for development and adoption of amendments to City policies and regulations.

And, other duties as assigned. Hours and Duration: This position is a full-time, limited duration status position with benefits. The duration of employment will be approximately two (2) years, working 40 hours per week scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 am 5:00 pm. The City of Redmond will be creating an eligibility list from this pool of applicants for future openings.

Qualifications: Knowledge of: principles and practices of urban design, site design, land use, subdivision, ur! ban planning and design, community development, and environmental issues; municipal government processes, land development processes, development review and subdivision procedures, techniques, or work program design and scheduling; methods and techniques of community involvement; applicable federal, state and local codes, ordinances, and practices governing the Citys development review activities. Ability to: perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of land use regulations and development review techniques; manage multiple projects and meet both short and long range deadlines; work well as part of a team; conduct appropriate research; write clear and concise reports; make presentations to the public and City Council, boards, and commissions; establish and maintain effective working relationships and resolve conflicting interests with citizens, the development community, public officials and co-workers. Effectively communicate with all levels of City staff and the publi! c, both verbally and in writing. Education and Experience: Bachelors de! gree in urban planning, urban design and development, architecture, environmental sciences, landscape architecture, geography, public policy or related discipline.

Two (2) to four (4) years of professional experience in the above or any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Licenses and Requirements: Valid Washington State drivers license by date of hire, and a driving record that meets City standards. Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in an office environment. May occasionally be required to lift boxes or files, usually not exceeding 30 pounds.
