Description: HomeStreet Bank is hiring Foreclosure Claims Specialist right now, this job will be assigned in Washington. As a Foreclosure Claims Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to file claims with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the GSEs â€" government sponsored enterprises), the Veteran’s! Administration, and private mortgage insurers to obtain reimbursements of unpaid principal balances, various property preservation expenses, and foreclosure expenses.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS :
Reviewing property vacancy reports published by the GSEs to terminate homeowner insurance & review marketing and selling of REO by the GSEs.
Filing claims for loss with the GSEs, the VA, and private insurers to receive reimbursement funds after a loan liquidates through a foreclosure, short sale, or deed-in-lieu of foreclosure (Fannie Mae Mortgage Releaseâ„¢).
Working with borrowers to transition out of the foreclosed property. Offering relocation assistance when approved/allowed by investor/insurer guidelines.
Working with attorneys/trustees to evict borrowers who refuse to transition out of the property post-foreclosure.
Working with title companies, mortgage compliance managers, and property preservation companies to convey marketa! ble title to the investor/insurer.
Ensure invoices ar! e paid on-time to various vendors & keeping track of all invoices for claimable reimbursement by the investor/insurer.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Two (2) years college or work experience (or equivalent) in real estate/lending industry required.
Applicants with mortgage servicing (or equivalent) experience will be given priority.
Experience with HUD, VA, and private investor/insurer requirements preferred.
Strong ability, desire and enjoyment in working with others, both employees and customers, in a cooperative, courteous, professional and friendly spirit.
Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people (customers, co-workers) and in various situations keeping emotions under control.
Able to handle customers in a firm but fair and consistent manner.
Excellent communication skills, including written, oral and in person.
! Knowledge of personal computers including Microsoft Windows, Word for Windows, Excel and Lotus Notes essential.
A self-starter, dependable, accurate in completing responsibilities with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Able to work within deadlines and under pressure.
Able to learn quickly, ask questions, take instruction constructively, and be flexible in doing assorted tasks.
Work cooperatively with and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and managers.
Possess good judgment, ability to accept responsibility and handle confidential information.
Willingness to assume additional duties/projects as they arise.
Able to accept change, be it internal, market or regulatory.
Good vision and hearing (corrected if necessary), able to sit for long hours and manual dexterity to include filing, reaching and bending.
Regular and punctual attendance required.
