Gates Hall, a new state-of-the-art facility in vibrant Seattle, the School of Law is also home to the Gates Public Service Scholars program and the Barer Institute for Law and Global Human Services. The UW School of Law h! as an outstanding opportunity for a Program Operations Special! ist. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Law, Technology and Arts (LTA) Group, the Program Operations Specialist will have primary responsibility for administering one or more programs under the LTA umbrella of offerings including admissions and foreign programming. This position works with minimal supervision and is responsible for maintaining an organized and professional office and for prioritizing his or her workload to meet a multiplicity of deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIES: -Manages the IP LL.M. admissions process including management of applicant materials and updating information in databases. -Provides general support to CASRIP program including assisting with the organization and running of the domestic program and related programs in Russia, Thailand and other jurisdictions. -Manages the startup Trademark/Patent Pilot Programs including communicating with the Coordinators and students; distributing, collecting, and filing paperwork, tracking the! deadlines for document preparation and submitting to the USPTO.
- Manages the IP Inn of Court Program. -Oversees administration of the WLA Legal Clinics including working with clients and attorneys; managing paperwork; coordinating with the Director and collecting and processing payments. -Manages MicrosoftâÂÂs Asian IP Teaching Skills Program including administration of the program; gives presentations; coordinates visiting scholars and works directly with representatives from Microsoft. REQUIREMENTS: Current University of Washington employee Requires JD degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a legal environment focusing on patents and trademarks Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word or WordPerfect, Outlook and Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to create publicity materials, reports, correspondence Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality Str! ong interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and professional! ly under the pressure of frequent deadlines in a fast-paced environment Ability to adapt to changing deadlines and rules of operations Ability to work with a variety of cultures, government, educational and legal systems Flexibility and willingness to assume new tasks or special projects Familiarity with basic accounting principles and preparation of simple budgets Ability to cope with stressful situations Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes on short notice Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
