We’re looking for an experienced Corporate Attorney to manage our 2-person legal department (General Counsel and Paralegal with a law degree) while the General Counsel is away on leave. This is a 12-week temporary role at 20-25 hours/week. It’s ideal for a corporate attorney who is returning to the work force or wants to work part-time.
To be successful in this role you’ll need 5 years’ experience as a Corporate Attorney, preferably within the realm of privacy law and data/internet legal issues. Large law firm and prior in-house experience not necessary but desired. You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of agreements within the realm of intellectual property, license, services, and confidentiality agreements. You will also be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the legal department in conjunct! ion with an experienced paralegal.
Primary responsibilities:
Review, draft and negotiate agreements.
Manage numerous projects and deadlines.
Ensure legal objectives are met in conjunction with business objectives.
Effectively manage and outsource complex agreements, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, patent and board-related matters to designated outside counsel.
Offer counsel on a variety of legal issues, including corporate governance and employment-related issues.
Work in conjunction with clients (i.e., other employees) in Sales, Marketing, Data Acquisition, Finance and Human Resources.
Advise clients on contract status, legal risks, business terms and data privacy issues of various deals.
Explain legal language to clients.
Research unique legal issues impacting the organization by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions, and codes.
