To help shape this transformation and be part of the incredible worldwide growth, Microsoftâs Legal and Corporate Affairs (LCA) department is looking for an experienced attorney to support and work closely with the Commerce group responsible for the commerce services and the online payment platform across Microsoft.
This is a great and exciting opportunity for an experienced payment attorney to support a growing team focused on everything from payment technologies and systems, to current and next-generation credit and debit card payments, to emerging payment methods and building deep local payment capabilities around the globe.
Primary responsibilities:
- Counsel and advise clients on a wide variety of complex and developing legal, regulatory and business issues relating to commerce transactions and payment. !
- Collaborate with LCA colleagues and legal and policy spec! ialists on a variety of legal and regulatory issues, with an emphasis on building a comprehensive payment regulatory compliance framework and implementation plan.
- Engage with legal experts across the world to enable the business to build deep regional and local payment capabilities.
- Structure, draft and negotiate significant transactional documents with financial institutions, payment service providers, processors and payment networks.
- Minimum of 5+ years as a practicing attorney, with solid experience in payment transactions;
- Major law firm or large company experience is preferred;
- Background in financial services or payment technologies is preferred;
- International experience is preferred;
- Outstanding analytical, organizational, drafting and communication skills.
- Keen business sense, ability to think strategically and desire to establish a trusted advisor relationship with business clients.
- Flexible and analytical thinker able quickly to identify legal issues in a complex environment and to develop solutions by exercising confident judgment in ambiguous situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workflow and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations.
- Strong results orientation and customer focus.
- Desire and ability to work as part of a team.
