Perform clerical duties in court of law; prepare docket of cases to be called; secure information for judges; and contact witnesses, attorneys, and litigants to! obtain information for court.

DUTIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Render assistance to the Tribal Courts and the Tribal police of complaints, subpoenas, warrants and commitments, andy any other document incidental to the lawful function of the Court.
  • Attend and keep, or arrange to have kept, a written record of all court proceedings.
  • Maintain all evidentiary materials, transcripts, and records of testimony filed in the Court
  • Collect and account for fines and other funds and properties taken into the custody of the court.
  • Administer the oath to all witnesses.
  • Receive, record and disburse all fines, fees and charges inmposed by the court.
  • Prepare and make available to parties forms, approved by the Tribal Council, for pleading and service of process.
  • Develop and keep a current docket numbering system and shall preserve and protect the original, official records of all Court proceedings.

  • Prepare and serve notices, summons, subpoenas, warrants, ! as prescribed by the Snoqualmie Tribal Code and the Federal Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedures (FRCP).
  • Assist parties with guidance and execution of complaints, petitions, answers, motions, and other pleadings and documents for Court proceedings, provided, however, the Clerk shall not give advice on questions of law, or appear or act on behalf of any other person in any court proceeding.
  • Assist and/or give the general public information pertaining to Court matters, filing of documents and court procedures, without giving legal advice.
  • In the case of absence of the Senior Court Clerk, the Court Clerk would work with the Administrative Services Officer and Judge on a tempary basis to meet additional administrative needs of the Court.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education
High School graduate
Requirements
One to two years related experience or equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that demonstrates the potential ability to perform the duties of the Court Clerk

Good knowledge ! of standard record keeping practices

Ability to read, write, s! peak and understand English fluently

Must have knowledge of and experience with the Full Court Case Management System

Must be willing and able to attend local and out-of-state training as directed by supervisor

Must be familiar with and adhere to the Code of Ethics for Court Personnel

Position may require work beyond regular business hours
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Computer Skills
Must be proficient with computers and comfortable using Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel
Other Requirements
Must have proven legal experience to be able to interpret and understand court rules, assist the judge as needed and run recording equipment.

Must successfully pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.

Must successfully pass background check.
