ELEMENTARY ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Kent School District is accepting applications for an outstanding elementary assistant principal cand! idate for the 2013-14 school year. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The assistant principal is primarily responsible for working closely with students, parents, and staff to promote and ensure the well-being and achievement of students from diverse ethnic, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds within the context of the schoolâs mission and goals. This building management position is directly responsible for the administration and leadership in areas such as student services, pupil management, curricular progra! ms and staff development.
The assistant principal is supervised and evaluated by the principal. The essential job duties are as follows: Provide leadership, vision, and inspiration to staff and students; promote a belief system and values driven culture of equity and excellence, setting high expectations for all students, particularly those who have traditionally been vulnerable to failure Partner with principal to focus on instruction and closing the achievement gap Create a sense of family by working with students and the community to collaborate with staff and parents to develop recommendations and ensure a school climate that effectively promotes powerful teaching and learning experiences for each and every child Supervise and evaluate staff, supervise events, activities, lunchroom, and campus Administrator of discipline policies, special programs, state reporting, and building staff development Promote best practices in student learning and accelerating studen! t achievement for diverse student populations REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ! Masterâs degree in educational administration or related field* Washington State principal certification Three years of elementary teaching experience required; five years preferred* Two years of demonstrated successful school-based leadership experience (at elementary school level preferred) A strong background working with a diverse population Education/Experience Equivalency: Combinations of appropriate education, training, certification and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability to the minimum education and experience requirements. COMPENSATION: *Annual Salary Range: $84,452 - $89,406 DOE and education. Salary includes the positionâs base pay plus effective education dollars, professional development dollars, and $3000 for doctoral degree. Additional annual benefits include: medical, dental, and vision benefits; district retirement contribution; 25 vacation days; 12 sick ! leave days; 6 flex days; 3 employee discretionary leave days; TSA match! up to $2400; and opportunity to cash-out 10 vacation days annually. Administrators must be an employee on or before January 31, and continuing their employment to receive an annual commitment stipend of $2,050 in each subsequent November.
