This is your opportunity to join a leading healthcare organization. Pacific Medical Centers is currently seeking a dynamic Patient Accounts Specialist to join our team.
JOB SUMMARY:
Maintains well-aged accounts receivable for assigned payers/providers. This includes promptly resolving and resubmitting denied claims and taking timely and routine action to collect unpaid cl! aims. Resolves patient account issues typically by phone with ! the departmentâs customers, patients, payers, attorneys, physicians, clinic and corporate staff. This involves research, analysis, problem solving and collection of accounts receivable utilizing knowledge of clinic operations, third party insurance benefits, and referral requirements. May also work with the organizationâs Patient Assistance Program managing and approving applications or focusing directly on collecting self-pay accounts receivable. Complies with all applicable regulations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one-year experience in either physician/hospital billing or other healthcare business setting.
- Understanding of clinic operations related to patient registration, referrals, & cash collections.
- Understanding of insurance payer reimbursement.
- Functional experience using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel).
- Working knowledge of CPT, ICD9 coding, and Corre! ct Coding Initiatives and basic accounting.
- Successful extensive customer service experience with patients and insurers. Collection experience preferred.
- Prefer AA in business-related field.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, Microsoft Windows and basic accounting.
- Demonstrated CRT skills, 10-Key by touch and the ability to use an automated billing system with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to keyboard, use a computer and, other office equipment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
- Analytical skills to interpret, problem solve and respond to insurance companies, patients, other staff and physicians regarding problem accounts.
- Ability to work in a diverse cultural environment.
**Background check, drug screen and influenza vaccination or proof of immunization will be required for all candidates selected for this position.
