Description: City of Auburn, WA is in need of Temporary On-Call Community Service Work... right now, this position will be delegated in Washington. Detailed specification about this position opportunity please read the description below. This position is temporary on-call to fill in for the Community Service Work Crew Leader for vacation or sick leave. Hours will be scheduled in advance! for vacations and on-call intermittently as needed.
The position supervises the individuals who are assigned community service hours by the Auburn Municipal Court Judge, Probation Department, or who volunteer for community service to pay off fines.
Primary Duties:
Supervises the Community Service Work Crew in the conduct of general grounds maintenance and clean up activities of City-owned properties and roadway right of way areas; assigns tasks and inspects completed work *Schedules the daily work plan in coordination with the Employee Relations and Compensation Manager; advises on areas that need work crew attention *Adjusts the work based on the number and physical capabilities of the work crew members, and the weather and safety considerations *Safely drives the work crew van; maintains van and trailer in a neat, clean condition; checks condition of van and reports deficiencies to the Employee Relations and Compensation Manager and Equipment! Rental.
- Ensures crew members work in a safe mann! er using appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE); reports any accident/injuries to the Risk Manager *Ensures the work crew acts appropriately during work hours and members treat each other with respect and dignity. *Ensures the work crew takes prescribed rest and lunch breaks. *Meets with the crew each morning; provides orientation, reminds workers of their responsibilities. *Maintains the work crew time sheets; periodically calls members to remind them of their work crew obligation. *Completes work and projects in a thorough and timely manner. *Understands and follows directions from supervisor, posted work rules and procedures. *Works courteously and effectively with public officials, citizens, contractors, vendors, crew members, supervisor, and other employees, both in person and over the telephone; assisting them as required. *Regular, reliable and punctual attendance *Work schedule is generally 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (1/2 hour for lunch), unless changed by the ! Employee Relations and Compensation Manager. *Performs related work as required. * = Primary functions
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year related field experience supervising a work crew or groups of workers.
Possess and retain valid state driverâs license with no impending loss required at time of appointment.
Additional Information:
Works mainly outdoors, sometimes during inclement weather. Occasionally required to use hands-to-finger, feel or handle writing utensils, computers and office supplies which require repetitive arm, wrist and hand movement. Occasionally required to stand and reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend or crawl . The employee is occasionally required to lift or move up to 40 pounds. Visits job sites that require walking on uneven, rocky, or rough ground. Position requires mental acuity to ensure thorough mental analysis of s! ituations in a fast-paced environment. Employee is required to maintain! confidentiality of information within the department. The employee may be required to deal with irate, disgruntled individuals requiring the use of conflict management skills. Employee is required to maintain professional composure and tact, patience and courtesy at all times.
