The Microsoft Legal & Corporate Affairs (LCA) team has an immediate opening for a senior attorney to join LCA’s Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB) legal team to provide strategic legal support for Microsoft's consumer hardware businesses. The IEB legal team is responsible for providing legal support to senior executives and their teams on a broad range of legal, policy, business, and strategic issues for Microsoft’s entertainment offerings.
This senior attorney will work as part of a team supporting and contributing to the success of Microsoft’s Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Information and Services (MSCIS) organization, which is directly responsible for building, distributing and servicing our hardware offerings, including all aspects of hardware safety and regulatory compliance. The attorney will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal guidance to manufacturing, supply chain and product safety and regulatory compliance personnel an! d will have frequent contact with all levels of Microsoft exec! utives, managers and employees responsible for the design, development and distribution of consumer hardware offerings. In this role, you will be a trusted advisor to key teams responsible for hardware manufacturing and regulatory compliance on a corporate and worldwide basis.
Primary Duties:
- Provide legal advice to executives and other business clients on various legal issues relevant to the manufacture and distribution of consumer electronics products, including compliance with a broad range of US and international regulations governing equipment testing, certification and safety; advise executives on how Microsoft policies and evolving laws and regulations may affect future business endeavors.
- In support of product manufacturing, distribution and support plans, help drive the development and implementation of corporate strategies for monitoring, addressing and influencing hardware regulatory policies in the US, EU, Asia, Africa, and ! the Middle East.
- This position will be involved in, and provide legal advice on the clients’ auditing programs, management systems, and training programs.
- JD and excellent academic credentials and an active license to practice law.
- 10+ years’ experience as a practicing consumer electronics attorney, ideally with deep manufacturing and regulatory compliance experience in an in-house and/or top law firm setting.
- Experience with litigation and product liability.
- Outstanding analytical, writing, and oral communication skills effective with both lawyers and non-lawyers.
- Extensive working knowledge of consumer electronics products.
- Sound and practical business judgment, ability to think strategically, and desire to establish a “trusted advisor†relationship with executives and key business clients.
- Demonstrated abili! ty to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced enviro! nment, prioritize workflow and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations.
- Ability to solve problems with a focus on achieving results that benefit our business as well as the business of our customers and partners.
- Desire and ability to work with diverse teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision, interfacing with a variety of personalities.
