Create architectural plans and drawings.
Consults with construction personnel concerning de! sign constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of construction activities.
Develop design criteria for preparation of construction documents.
Develop scope of work documents.
Develops specifications, working drawings, instructions, and other related documents of a complex project.
Strong understanding of commercial building specifications.
Ensures that production of drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, code and quality requirements.
Prepare project data sheet in a complete and orderly manner for future reference.
Responsible for keeping current on new products and must be able to judge their suitability for specific uses. Should compile and communicate with said product representatives on a regular basis.
Reviews consultant’s drawings to assure compliance with design criteria, specifications, coordination, code and requirements o! f the project.
Reviews drawings and evaluates the nee! d for design changes and makes appropriate recommendations.
Selects the materials, equipment and systems based on constructability and value to conform to company standards and project budget.
Communicate appropriate information on project status, scope changes and problem areas to management.
Develop design criteria and equipment selection in preliminary design process for preparation of construction documents.
Manage permitting process with local city board.
Reviews vendor bids and drawings for major components to be used in the system to assure compliance with specifications, code and requirements of the project.
Coordinate work with in-house staff and external consultants
Shepherd multiple project teams and milestone deliverables
Maintain alignment of agreed-upon contractual and financial performance with high standards
Surveys/Documents existing conditions on remodel projects
Know! ledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of commercial building architecture.
Knowledge of the strengths and uses of construction materials.
Knowledge of construction and renovation costs, projections and principles.
Skill in drawing architectural plans and making technical computations.
Excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and computer skills.
Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to prepare architectural plans and designs for renovation projects within the restrictions imposed by land limitations, functional considerations, architectural principles and practices, city policies, budgetary appropriations, and existing structures.
Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans and specifications.
A! bility to establish and maintain effective work relationships with asso! ciates, departmental officials, architects, and engineers.
Ability to adapt to a varied work schedule on an as-needed basis to complete critical time-sensitive projects.
Maintain current knowledge of International Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Codes, ASHRAE and NFPA as well as design and construction procedures to meet changing priorities.
Knowledge of building codes, ADA and construction methods.
Responsible for keeping current on new mechanical, plumbing and fire protection products and must be able to judge their suitability for specific uses.
Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
Education and Experience
Five years minimum relevant work experience required. Bachelors degree required.
