This job contributes to Starbucks success by providing timely and effective advanced level legal support to attorneys. This job is ! part of a legal team supporting the Channel Development and Branded Solutions businesses, with specific emphasis on document drafting, preparation and negotiation for Starbucks foodservice, consumer packaged goods, and licensing businesses. This job also requires organization of documents and tasks and their ongoing, maintenance, contract management, maintaining files and general legal support for a fast-moving business organization.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Anticipates and initiates routine legal tasks, both independently and as requested by attorneys. Informs attorneys of significant issues in a timely manner. Reviews materials and provides comments to attorneys in the form of reports and summaries. Conducts research, performs a variety of legal assignments, and manages routine projects, including drafting, reviewing and transmitting legal correspon! dence and documents.

Assists in hiring, training and ! advising other paralegals/legal support staff to ensure efficient and consistent conduct of company business. Provides leadership and support to other paralegals and legal support staff. Assigns tasks and projects, offers guidance and ensures effective communication among staff members. Takes active role in departmental projects and committees.

Communicates with and manages outside counsel independently and under supervision of an attorney to ensure timely and effective legal representation with minimal disruption to company business.

Coordinates moderately complex projects or segments and phases of complex projects. Ensures that the project achieves the expected results within the specified timeframe and on budget. May direct the work of others.

Develops and oversees maintenance of document and data management systems within the Law and Corporate Affairs department. Maintains organized files and updated dockets. Generates reports as applicable.
Identifies training opportunities; and supports the implementation of educational tools and programs for internal clients.

Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.

Provides regular feedback to partners and appropriate departments regarding the status of legal projects.

Provides support to internal business units according to assigned geographical region or area of expertise. Participates in cross- functional teams within the Company. Identifies trends, issues, potential risks and liabilities and alerts attorneys accordingly.

Qualifications

Summary of Experience

Law firm or in-house corporate legal department experience (3 years)

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience drafting legal documents

Experience with reviewing contracts

Interpersonal skills

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

Strong a! nalytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to balance multip! le priorities and meet deadlines

Ability to deal effectively with conflicts

Ability to follow through on commitments and projects

Ability to work independently and initiate projects

Planning, organizational and administrative skills

Expertise in one or more areas of law

Organizational skills that result in consistent volume and quality of output

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to analyze and assess contract provisions

Ability to exercise mature and independent judgment

Ability to know when further information or input is needed and timely ask for such
