IP / US Patent Paralegal

Location: Seattle, Washington

Description: Gilead is looking of IP / US Patent Paralegal right now, this vacancy will be designated in Washington. For detail informations about this vacancy opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. The company is currently seeking a Paralegal to join its Patent, Legal team in our Seattle office.

Under minimal supervision the successful candidate will:
Prepare and fi! le prosecution documents (i.e. office action responses, notice to file missing parts, assignments, etc), assist with applications for new domestic and foreign patent filings, including National Phase foreign filing requirements; research and prepare Information Disclosure Statements and maintain database; file and maintain IP Mailbox; familiar with USPTO website to track patents; maintain and update forms on Gilead’s shared server for IP Group; compose and send correspondence to foreign associates; process legalization of documents, order certified copies of patent documents, etc. and general paralegal support.

Experience should include preparing documents for patent prosecution, and preparing patent applications for filing with the USPTO. Pharmaceutical patent experience is a plus.

Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform in a fast-paced, deadline -driven environment. Demands the ability to work using well - defined procedure! s, independently taking ownership for work product. Must have ! good attention to detail and competency in Microsoft Word (with emphasis to document formatting commands, and use of styles) and Microsoft Outlook.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:
Individual works collaboratively with other members of legal department as well as internal client departments in providing legal assistance to corporate attorneys. May prepare and coordinate procedural documentation for patent filings and applications, as required. Assists attorney(s) with the drafting and editing of legal documentation. May be responsible for tracking and paying legal fees.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
Must have demonstrated skills, depth and expertise in area(s) of responsibility
Must possess superior verbal communication skills plus impeccable writing and editing abilities. Candidate must have demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail. Must be able to set and appropriately modify priorities with internal cli! ents on an ongoing basis, manage client and third party expectations and deliver results within reasonably established timelines.

Specific Education and Experience:
5+ years of prior industry or law firm experience as a patent paralegal required. Working knowledge of USPTO, PCT and EPO rules and regulations. California Notary Public Commission a plus.
