Reports to and is under the general supervision of the Manager of the Small Business Lending Department. Responsible for SBA Loan Production, ensures completeness and accuracy of loan packages prior to Loan Committee meetings or submission to the SBA District Offices, and maintains SBA loan servicing functions as outlined. Other duties and responsibilities as necessary to the overall function of Mountain West Bankâs loan policy and procedures.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES Loan Production and Profitability
- Prepare loan packages for review of the borrowerâs request per written bank loan policy and procedures.
- Recommend interest rates, loan packaging fees, and other sources of income as it relates to individual loan requests.
- Closely monitor profitability of each loan request or loan portfolio as assigned. Must be efficient and reflective to the credit risk of the loan request. This involves monitoring of loan officerâs time, expenses, and other branch administrative time.
- Meet or exceed marketing and loan production goals as outlined by the department manager.
- Analyze financial statements, or tax returns, and prepare comments regarding the borrowers ability to repay, using acceptable cash flow analysis
- Analyze to determine the value of collateral being recommended for the loan request.
- Present in written format a loan request summary according to bankâs written loan policy and procedures, to be presented to bank Loan Committee for review.
- Conduct commercial loan analyses to include but not limited to competition, market trends, interest rates, and economic conditions.
- Loan write up includes comments on the borrowerâs management and technical ability.
- Research and interpret credit reports both personal and business.
- Become familiar with the Small Business Administration, Standard Operating Procedure Manuals including but not limited to SOP 50-10, SOP 50-50, & SOP 50-51.
- Become familiar and comply with all Federal Registry procedures (CFR) as it pertains to the Small Business Administration Act of 1954.
- Attend SBA seminars and meetings in the appropriate District on new legislation as it affects SBA lending.
- Be familiar with all reporting requirements of SBA lending including but not limited to the 1502 report submitted to the fiscal transfer agent.
- Responsible for soliciting potential borrowers for eligible SBA loan purposes. Referral sources include, but not limited to realtors, accountants, attorneys, financial consultants, SCORE, etc.
- Emphasis should include full banking relationships.
- Attend training seminars as sponsored by the Small Business Administration
- Understand all available SBA loan programs with emphasis on the 7 (a), 504, & SBA Express. Must be knowledgeable of other specialty programs, such as CAIP loans, bonding loan programs, Export Loans, and Disaster Loans.
- Maximize business contacts. Develop a working relationship with potential and existing SBA loan customers.
- Responsible for past due collections of loans as assigned by loan administration committee or the department manager.
- File maintenance as instructed.
- Update financial statement analysis as required per the borrowerâs business loan agreement or SBA loan authorization.
- Monitor borrowerâs financial condition or covenants as required.
- Report any borrowers deteriorating financial condition to the department manager immediately.
- Close loans according to rules and regulations established by banking laws.
1) Education and Experience:
An Associates Degree or equivalent; A minimum of three years experience in banking; A minimum of two years loan experience preferred.
2) Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
Ability to use and analyze financial spread systems; Ability to work in a professional manner; Ability to work quickly and accurately; Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; Ability to communicate effectively verbally, and in writing; Computer experience with preference given for Word & Excel; Ability to set goals, manage time, adjust to change and maintain priorities; Knowledgeable of banking laws and regulations.
