Duties:
This position maintains and supports criminal history record information (CHRI) provided to the Section by law enforcement agencies and courts throughout the state. The incumbent of this position ensures accurate entry and update of information. This position is responsible for disseminating CHRI upon request to law enforcement, criminal justice agencies, public and private sector employers and the general public. This position also responds to inquiries from customers in regards to CHRI.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compile and disseminate information by locating and processing necessary documents, arrest, disposition, court orders, juvenile records, sex/kidnapping offender records, background check requests, etc. Review and verify accuracy of court documents relating to convictions and sentencing. Identify offenders using physical characteristics and demographics. Liaison for record acquisition and release of information with other criminal justice agencies, federal and local agencies, attorney, other state agencies, businesses, organizations, and the general public. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of public disclosure and dissemination policies, criminal laws, Sex/Kidnapping Offender registry laws, Criminal Records Privacy Act, Child and Adult Abuse Information Act, federal laws, and other related Washington State RCWs, WSP policies, and WACs. Utilize, update and maintain databases and programs used for processing of criminal history information: (WASIS, WATCH, CHIPS, SOR, Court Order, SCOMIS/DISCIS, FORS, OBTS, Livescan, Access, Excel, etc.) and process legal documentation for creating and disseminating Records of Arrest and Prosecution sheets (RAPsheets). Responsible for properly preparing CHRI for imaging and archiving and other duties as assigned. Adhere to established safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduation or GED equivalent. Must maintain confidentiality. Ability to operate computers: willing and able to operate and read computer monitors / terminals on a continuous basis. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, the public and criminal justice agencies. Ethics and Integrity - must earn the trust, respect and confidence of coworkers and customers through honesty, forthrightness, and professionalism. Flexibility - able to adapt to changing business needs, conditions and responsibilities. Must meet productivity and accuracy standards, deadlines and work schedules. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of experience maintaining or processing criminal history or offender records such as legal files, property files, grievance files, administrative files, medical files, parole files, counselor or custody files in a governmental law enforcement office, court setting or a juvenile or adult correctional agency. College level course work in criminal justice, business administration, accounting, social science, or a related field will substitute for one year of experience. Knowledge of criminal history document processing. Ability to use WASIS: Demonstrate the ability to effectively enter data into the Washington State Identification System (WASIS) database, be able to locate and retrieve data. Accountability: Accept personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work. Can be relied upon to achieve excellent results with little need for oversight. Accuracy: Ability to process complex criminal history record information with a high degree of accuracy. Analytical Skills: Use criminal history data and information in a clear and rational thought process to assess and understand issues, evaluate options, form accurate conclusions and make decisions. Customer service focus: Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction with the services offered by the unit. Follow instructions: Willing and able to follow written and / or oral instructions. Interpersonal Communication Skills: Ability to build constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation and respect. Demonstrate computer / typing skills to include 10-key, electronic mail, display basic knowledge of excel spreadsheets for statistical reporting; demonstrate knowledge of word processing and typing. Workload Management: Effectively organize multiple assignments, sometimes of a complex nature or involving competing priorities to produce work products that are accurate, thorough, and on time. Written Communication: Effectively convey ideas and information in writing using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the reader.

Untruthful or misleading answers or omissions will be treated as a falsification which will be cause for rejection of potential employment. Transcripts: Education verification is part of the selection process. If selected as a top candidate, all education, to include high school and equivalent, indicated in your application materials, will be verified.
