The responsibilities of this classification include support to in-court operations including the in-court facilitation of the court calendars. The incumbent enters data into software programs; track! s, monitors, researches, and updates cases. This position assists litigants and attorneys to inquiries regarding how to proceed with a specific court process. Duties require the incumbent to interact with judicial officers, internal and external customers, and handle high-volume multi-line phones. In addition, the incumbent serves as the first point of contact upon entering the Youth Services Building.

Work location: This position is primarily located at Juvenile Court Services, 1211 E. Alder Street in Seattle and at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent when required.
Work schedule: This is a full-time position working 35 hours per week. Work schedule is normally Monday through Friday, 8:15 a.m. - 4:15 p.m., and is required to work the early morning shift 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. when assigned.

Job Duties:
The following duties are not intended to represent the entire functional capacity of the position at the task level.
Perform tasks in court, including writing court orders based on judicial officersâ determinations, and monitoring case readiness.
Perform operational support ac! tivities including scheduling of court dates and determining priority order of cases with respect to local court rules/legal time frames.
Provide procedural information to attorneys and pro se litigants.
Facilitate communication between judges, commissioners, court staff, and the public. Respond to various questions and inquiries regarding specific court rules and procedures.
Track, monitor and input case information into court-specific database system. Update case status for accurate and current information.
Ensure courtroom security on a daily basis as well in high-volume courtrooms.
Participate in planning and presenting training programs for attorneys or litigants. Train new employees in processes, policies and software applications.
Support the Front Information Desk. Answer telephones and/or personally greet clients.
Provide program-specific information that requires interpretation of established policies, procedures and other relevant sour! ces to internal and/or external customers over the phone, in writing an! d/or in person.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), and three years' experience in court procedures and processes. Knowledge of statutes, court rules, court procedures and processes; court system, including roles and responsibilities of court departments and related agencies. Knowledge of legal terminology.
Demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal skills required. Must have skill in working with diverse populations and emotional situations with cultural sensitivity, maintain confidentiality and handle volatile customers. Demonstrate effective communication skills both orally and in writing. Must be able to organize and prioritize work, adapt to changes in work load demands and multi-task. May deal with sensitive and /or potentially volatile situations and high volume work.
Must be able to use personal! computer and Microsoft Office programs.
