Microsoft, one! of the world’s most exciting and dynamic companies, has an immediate opening for an experienced litigation attorney to join the Legal and Corporate Affairs division (LCA) to work on cutting edge class action and employment law issues. The person in this position will lead the defense of class actions against the Company, and will provide advice to the Company’s various business groups on strategies for avoiding class action litigation and mitigating class action risks. This person will also lead the Company’s defense of part of our employment litigation docket and work closely with colleagues who provide advice to our HR group.
Primary responsibilities include management of assigned cases, including formation of litigation team, formulation of strategy, oversight of all litigation activities, marshaling of internal facts, review and editing of all written advocacy and preparation of outside counsel for oral argument and trial, advice to the HR team and various bu! siness groups, and in all other ways exercising primary respon! sibility of representing Microsoft. Contacts to include frequent and regular communication with outside counsel and with other LCA attorneys, paralegals and staff and with Microsoft employees and executives.

Qualifications to include:

• A minimum of 8 years of demonstrated work experience as a practicing attorney in litigation, including first chair responsibility in some cases and some trial experience.
• Significant experience in sophisticated class action and/or employment litigation required and substantial additional experience in complex commercial litigation is strongly preferred.
• A demonstrated ability to direct creatively and effectively the defense of a sophisticated client in complex litigation.
• Comfort with current trial presentation techniques, and the ability and willingness to direct outside counsel on the most impactful way of presenting Microsoft’s position in court.
• Ability to partner effective! ly in a team environment and work with multiple interdependencies.
• Highly developed oral and written skills.
• JD from an ABA accredited law school and outstanding academic credentials is required.
