:
Responsible for working with outstanding patient accounts receivables to collect payments an! d/or resolve the accounts with the patients and insurance carriers. Familiar with and has a working knowledge of standard collection practices, complies with all Federal and State Statutes, including bankruptcies and charity care guidelines.
Essential Duties
:
Makes patient account follow-up telephone calls on a regular basis and accurately notes patient accounts of all actions taken in the billing system.
Ensures statements are printed and distributed for mailing.
Monitors collection system to ensure appropriate letters are being sent, including notices of pending collection action.
Reviews accounts for documentation, prepares paperwork for authorization, and refers delinquent accounts to a collection agency as directed.
Monitors collection agency activities on delinquent accounts.
Oversees and assists with the preparation of legal requests including bankruptcies and suits. Prepares and responds to att! orney requests and bankruptcy notifications in a timely manner! .
Acts in the best interest of the patient and the clinics in responding to patient complaints; Interfaces with clinic personnel regarding delinquent accounts and termination guidelines. Acts as second-level support for individuals who are seeking information about their accounts.
Reviews and completes administrative adjustments in conjunction with FMG guidelines and policy.
Other: Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education
:
High school diploma/GED
Associate in arts degree preferred
Experience
:
3 years of experience working in a multi-specialty group practice, healthcare system with an ambulatory focus, or academic medical center required
3 years of experience in working with a medical office/hospital accounts receivable system required
License/Certification
:
None required
