Job Title : Fish & Wildlife Director

Education :
High School Diploma or GED.
Must have at least three (5) years of management experience with proven knowledge of fisheries & wildlife or related field.

Skills/Knowledge:
Ability to ascertain and independently make decisions, problem solve through evaluating, complex situations.
Must have ability to supervise personnel and coordinate work activities.
Must have general knowledge of fisheries and wildlife.
Must have negotiating skills, public speaking and public relations
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of tribal specific goals and objectives
Must have the tolerance to deal with upset, angry, frustrated individuals.
Must have some knowledge of fishing operations such as gillnetting, beach seining, round hauling, set netting, purse seining and hunting practices
Must have knowledge of the Tulalip Tribes Usual & Accustomed fis! hing and hunting areas.
Must have some knowledge of vessel! operation.
Must have knowledge of Tribal Fishing and Hunting rights.
Must have demonstrable knowledge of federal/state and tribal laws and regulations as it relates to job duties.

Experience:
Must have at least three (3) years of management experience
Must have at least three (3) years of Fisheries, Wildlife or related field experience.
Must have at least three (3) years experience working with tribal budget presentation and budget management.
Must have at least three (3) years of experience working with tribal budgets and grants
Must have at least three (3) years of working with standard computer programs and office equipment.

Other Requirements:
Must be an enrolled Tulalip Tribal Member
Must have and maintain a high standard of integrity.
Must be able to work in a culturally diverse environment
Must have successful work history with the Tulalip Tribes and other entities
Must have no disciplin! ary action within 3 calendar years of submitting application
Must have no misuse of alcohol or mind altering chemicals of three (3) years prior to employment and while employed.
Must be able to work hours to meet the needs of the Tribes
Must be willing to travel and take training as related to job duties
Must have and maintain a Valid Driver’s License and be insurable under the Tulalip Tribes Insurance
Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements :
Must be have ability to sit/stand/lean for prolonged periods of time.
Must have finger and hand dexterity to operate a computer and routine paperwork.
Ability to lift objects weighing up to 20lbs on occasion
Manual and finger dexterity for operation of a motor vehicle.

Tribal Department : Fisheries & Wildlife

Employee Classification : Exempt

Job Summary: : Responsible for the Harvest Management, Enhance! ment, and Enforcement of Fisheries & Wildlife of the Tulalip Tribes
This Employee Report to : Natural & Cultural Resources Director

Extent of Job Authority: To act under the guidelines of the Fish and Wildlife Policies, Procedures and Ordinances to oversee Harvest Management, Enhancement, and enforcement of Fisheries/Wildlife of the Tulalip Tribes.

Specific Duties Performed :
Ensures planning, development, implementation and evaluation of cost-efficient and effective services to restore, protect, preserve, and enhance Tribal Fisheries and Wildlife Programs
Ensures the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of Tribal Fisheries and Wildlife policies and procedures
Manages/Oversees the Tulalip Fisheries, Shellfish, Wildlife, Forestry, Marina and Hatchery Programs.
Assist the Natural & Cultural Resources Director with tasks and projects as they relate to the fish and wildlife programs.
Negotiates with other governments to protect and ensure that the Tulalip Tribes’! hunting and fishing treaty rights are exercised and protected.
Ensures the evaluation of the staffing levels, organizational structure and annual operating budget for the Fisheries and Wildlife departments
Must participate in all levels of fisheries and wildlife management
Represents the tribe on Fisheries and Wildlife issues with Board of Directors, The Executive Director and Attorneys as directed
Will present information to Board of Directors and the Executive Director or other entities in regards to the fisheries/wildlife programs as directed by the Natural & Cultural Resources Executive Director
Draft/recommend changes to policies, procedures and ordnances

Terms of Employment: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends. This position requires 40 hours per week or 2080 hours per year. Increase in pay is subject to budgetary restriction, following successful completion of applicable probationary period.

Pay Rate: $27.22 per hour * applicant selected may be offered a rate higher than the base pay depending on qualifications.
