Description

We do business in over 130 countries and our annual revenues exceed $2.0 billion. We are currently seeking a Senior Intellectual Property Attorney to join our legal department.

The position shall be based at Liberty Lake, WA., our corporate headquarters.

Duties and Responsibilities

• New Patent Preparation and Prosecution, Office Action replies, and direct and review Foreign Associate replies
• Harvest inventions from research and development teams located in US and international facilities
• Manage pre-litigation and patent litigation activities
• Develop and maintain company patent applications, trade secrets, trademarks and copyrights
• Draft and review license agreements, development agreements and other IP oriented documents as well as intellectual property provisions contained in general commercial contracts and documents.
• Prepare and manage the preparation of product clearance/right to practice o! pinions (and provide infringement and validity analysis) for I! tron products and processes with respect to industry patents.
• Monitor competitor IP activity and advise business on significant activity.
• Evaluate IP diligence for potential acquisition targets.
• Develop and implement ongoing education programs for senior management, business and R&D personnel to advise them on global intellectual property matters and IP related rule changes.
• Implement and approve IP legal policies and procedures in accordance with the business needs and in conformity with corporate policies and procedures.
• Work closely with the Associate General Counsel, IP and other Law Department members to provide quality legal services to Itron.

Qualifications

Experience: This position requires a minimum of two 2 years experience as a Patent Attorney admitted to practice in at least one state bar and registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and a minimum 12 years of total lega! l experience. Experience with major law firm and/or corporation as an attorney desired and substantial experience working in-house with large multinational US company strongly preferred. Strong intellectual capacity and high personal standards of excellence.

Education: A JD in Law and a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering degree is required

Certification(s): State Bar Membership

Travel: 10 - 30%
