For complete informations about this occupation opportunity kindly see the descriptions. The global law firm of K&L Gates seeks a Regional Billing Manager for its Seattle office. The Regional Billing Manager reports to the Firmwide Director of Client Accounting and will work closely with each office’s Director of Administration. This position is responsible for overseeing regional billing functions, including systems, policies and personnel, and for ensuring that the firm continues to utilize the best practices possible for its billing work.
A successful Regional Billing Manager will have a comprehensive understanding of the billing needs of each practice group as well as each o! ffice in their region, and provide strong leadership and overs! ight of the entire billing process. This position must be able to focus strategically on region and firm wide billing matters, and also have the capability to provide hands-on reporting and problem-resolution as needed.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee region-wide billing functions (i.e., with dotted lines to each Director of Administration and their office billing staff), including disposition of WIP (i.e., billing and write-downs).
- Review, process and approve client/matter AFA’s within automated workflow applications.
- International billing set-ups and maintenance including local currencies and various tax concerns (GST, VAT, withholding).
- Coordinate troubleshooting and solving major billing problems and issues.
- Assist in developing firm-wide best billing and write-down procedures and policies.
- Coordinate the regional adherence to firm billing and write down policies and pra! ctices.
- Conduct training and update documentation as necessary.
- Maintain, control, and report special billing arrangements, including quarterly updates.
- Track and monitor region and office WIP, billing and write-down metrics.
- Coordinate “client activity reports†as necessary; work closely with practice groups to ensure reporting meets clients’ needs.
- Send out over-age WIP notices and inquires to selected billing attorneys and manage follow up.
- Interface with senior management and each office regarding policies and procedures to improve billing operation's overall efficiency and firm cash flow.
- Participate in annual Billing Rate review and implementation.
- Responsible for employee selection, training, appraisal and development.
- The Regional Billing Manager should have undergraduate level degree or equivalent preferably in finan! ce, or equivalent on-the-job experience in a financial environment.
- Equivalent of 5-7 years of financial management experience, with a strong background in data analysis and process improvement.
- Minimum of 2 years management of a professional services firm billing.
- Knowledge of the work flow and business practices of a large legal firm.
- Ability to gain the confidence and trust of attorneys and staff and display the poise, personality and professionalism necessary to achieve these goals.
- Extensive prior professional service billing experience. Strong preference given to those who have used Elite as the primary billing software.
- Accustomed to leading a team.
- Outstanding skills in defining business needs through structured analysis.
- Demonstrated project management and leadership skills.
- Ability to work with non-technical user.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to meet obligations with confidentiality, integrity ! and sensitivity.
