SSI/SSDI Overview:
Within the organization PCG has a project team dedicated to providing SSI/SSDI disability representation and advocacy work thr! oughout the country. The projects include the identification, ! development, application and representation at all levels of the adjudication process including attending hearings with our clients before Administrative Law Judges.
Overall Responsibilities:
Public Consulting Group is seeking a Claims Developer. Once a disability application has been filed with SSA the Claims Developer will work closely with our claimants, Social Security Administration (SSA), Disability Determination Service (DDS), and the office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR). The Claims Developer role is to increase the probability of a successful application by maintaining all relevant medical and vocational evidence and providing those updates to SSA throughout the life of the disability claim. As well, the Claims Developer ensures the claimant is regularly updated on the status of their claim.
Specific Responsibilities:
Request medical, psychological, school and work records.
Maintain regular contact with the ! claimants to assure customer satisfaction and to obtain updated medical and vocational information.
Maintain regular contact with DDS. SSA, ODAR
Assist SSA in making sure claimants are aware of and attend Consultative Exams.
Provide monthly reporting statistics to the Team Lead for designated area of responsibility.
Assist the Claims Analyst with preparing hearing files and with any post or pre hearing development.
Required Skills:
Proper telephone etiquette including customer relation techniques.
Understanding of modern office methods and practices and be efficient with computers.
Proper usage of English language including grammar, spelling and vocabulary.
Strong Interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish working relationships with federal, state and county agencies as well as the general public.
Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of all materials in the work setting.
Knowledge and underst! anding of SSA's laws and regulations
Knowledge and understanding of! SSA's medical, mental and vocational criteria's
Knowledge and understanding of the relationship between SSI/SSDI and Medicaid/ Medicare
Ability to interpret and execute requests from SSA, DDS, ODAR and State personnel.
Ability to maintain a record keeping and follow-up system and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently, requiring minimal supervision.
Required Experience:
An Associates degree or 3 years relevant experience.
Medical and/or Social Service background preferred.
