Corporate Affairs (LCA) division at Microsoft has an i! mmediate opening for a Global Attorney in our Global Migration group. Reporting to the Global Team Manager, the Attorney will partner with HR, immigration counsel/vendors, and the Global Team to develop regional immigration strategies, training, and processes that enable the Business and promote legal compliance worldwide.
The Attorney will:
Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic thought leader across the region(s). Define the strategic direction for immigration programs and processes in the region(s) of responsibility. Develop best practices that drive to compliance and empower HR and the Business. Work with Procurement and HR to source local counsel/vendors for immigration services. Train outside counsel/vendors, HR, and Business partners on relevant immigration processes and policies. Work with HR and outside counsel/vendors on internal and external immigration audits. Partner with HR Legal Advocacy Manager, local HR, Government Affairs, outside cou! nsel/vendors, and LCA to support government advocacy efforts i! n the region(s) as required.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively across groups and cultures at all levels of the company and be fully transparent and accountable at both the strategic and process levels. The Attorney must keep abreast of government decision making, be able to analyze complex legal issues, understand the impact of these issues to Microsoft, and be able to effectively communicate issues of importance to senior management.
Required skills include: ability to conduct sophisticated legal analysis and identify compliant and agile solutions; ability to partner and collaborate effectively; ability to navigate change with ease and comfort; ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations; and ability to work under pressure.
Other requirements include:
- A J.D. or other advanced degree in law
- 4+ years of transactional or corporate immigration experience
- Availabilit! y to travel domestically and internationally as needed
- Process development and/or program management experience strongly preferred
- Vendor management and/or virtual team management experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity and experience with Microsoft business and high-tech industry preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
