Seattle's Union Gospel Mission is a private faith-based organization that helps the community to reach out with compassion to those who have lost hope. And as a community, we empower one another to build, lead and give back.
This position is responsible for assisting clients in all of the various legal issues handled by the office, assisting the Director of Legal Services with administrative duties, operations, and coordination of the Legal Services department. It is also responsible for providing interpretation services for Spanish speaking clients in their legal appointments.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Reception duties: handling in-person, telephone, and email contact with the public, clients, volunteers, and donors efficiently and effectively.
2. Genera! l administrative duties, including scheduling, preparation of ! reports, typing, proof-reading, filing, supply maintenance and photocopying.
3. Coordination of regularly scheduled legal clinics, including scheduling of volunteers and clients.
4. Maintenance of files and databases containing data about ODLS volunteers, donors and clients
5. Performance of client related work such as calling courts to research the status of a clientâs case, communication with administrative agencies on a clientâs behalf, and other such tasks under the supervision of a supervising attorney.
6. Assist with fundraising efforts, including the planning and execution of special events, and donor relations.
7. Client intake, including initial interview and conflicts checks.
8. Work cooperatively with other Mission departments as a team to efficiently and positively accomplish the work of the Mission.
9. Strive to anticipate and proactively assist with the needs of the clinic and the workload of the ODLS Managing Attorney.
10. ! Attend all Mission meetings and training sessions, as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
1. Fluency in Spanish (written and spoken) required.
2. High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
3. Excellent oral and written communication, grammar, attention to detail and organizational skills required.
4. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor, work under pressure and handle sensitive/difficult situations calmly and effectively required.
5. Ability to work comfortably with the diverse clients served by ODLS required.
6. Abilit! y to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client/sensitive inf! ormation required.
7. Ability and willingness to work both independently and within a team setting required.
8. Must agree with and sign Seattleâs Union Gospel Missionâs Statement of Faith.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Paralegal certification preferred.
Experience :
Experience within a legal work setting is strongly preferred. Minimum of two years of experience in a professional office environment required.
