Criminal Records Division Olympia, Washington About our Agency : The Washington State Patrol (! WSP) is a professional public safety agency made up of dedicated professionals who work hard to improve the quality of life as well as prevent the unnecessary loss of life on a daily basis. The WSP has approximately 2,200 employees and is organized into six bureaus: Field Operations, Technical Services, Forensic Laboratory Services, Fire Protection, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and Investigative Services. More than half of all WSP employees work in a variety of non-commissioned jobs to support the Patrol's mission. This recruitment will be used to establish an applicant pool to fill vacant positions as they occur.
Duties:
These positions maintain and support criminal history record information (CHRI) provided to the Section by law enforcement agencies and courts throughout the ! state. The incumbents ensure accurate entry and update of info! rmation. These positions are responsible for disseminating CHRI upon request to law enforcement, criminal justice agencies, public and private sector employers and the general public. These positions also respond to inquiries from customers in regards to CHRI. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process, maintain and disseminate the court and law enforcement record information relative to criminal history.
Liaison for record acquisition and release of information with other criminal justice agencies, federal and local agencies, attorneys, other state agencies, businesses, organizations, and the general public.
Disseminate information by locating and processing necessary documents for background check requests.
Review and verify accuracy of incoming documents related to background check requests.
Responsible for preparing and entering statistical information to maintain, monitor and recommend changes in the unit priority to ensure goals and objectives are met.
! Maintain current knowledge of public disclosure and dissemination policies, criminal laws, Sex/Kidnapping Offender registry laws, Criminal Records Privacy Act, Child and Adult Abuse Information Act, federal laws, and other related Washington State RCWâs, WSP policies and WACs.
Utilize, update and maintain databases and programs used for processing of criminal history information: (WASIS, WATCH, EApp, CHIPS, Live-Scan, Access, Excel, etc.) and process legal documentation for disseminating Records of Arrest and Prosecution sheets (RAPsheets).
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduation, GED, or equivalent education.
Must maintain confidentiality.
Ability to operate computers: willing and able to operate and read computer monitors / terminals on a continuous basis.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, the public and criminal justice agencies.
Ethics and Integrity - must ! earn the trust, respect and confidence of coworkers and customers throu! gh honesty, forthrightness, and professionalism.

Demonstrate computer / typing skills to include 10-key, electronic mail, display basic knowledge of excel spreadsheets for statistical reporting; demonstrate knowledge of word processing and typing.
Workload Management: Effectively organize multiple assignments, sometimes of a complex nature or involving competing priorities to produce work products that are accurate, thorough, and on time.
Written Communication: Effectively convey ideas and information in writing using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the reader. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience m! aintaining or processing criminal history or offender records such as l! egal files or administrative files in a governmental law enforcement office.
College level course work in criminal justice, business administration, accounting, social science, or a related field will substitute for one year of experience.
Knowledge of criminal history document processing.
Ability to use WASIS: Demonstrate the ability to effectively enter data into the Washington State Identification System (WASIS) database, be able to locate and retrieve data.
