Further informations about this occupation opportunity kindly read the description below. We have two Workers Compensation Adjudicator 4 (WCA4) vacancies in the Self-! Insurance Claims Appeals, Legal Services section. The WCA 4 reviews and analyzes protests to appealable only orders and appeals to the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals (BIIA) from decisions involving coverage, extent of entitlement to benefits, jurisdictional matters and other contested decisions to determine if the decisions are factually supportable and legally defensible.
Some of what you will do · Adjudicate claim protests and appeals. Determine if the decisions should be changed, modified, reversed or affirmed. Work to resolve contested cases through negotiations with interested parties to reduce litigation on workers' compensation cases. Negotiate settlement resolution in keeping with the Industrial Insurance Act, Case Law, and established rules of the department (RCW's and WAC's). · Serve as a technical consultant and mentor to employees of the Insurance Services Division based on knowledge of the Industrial Insurance Act and experience in working lit! igated appeals. · Communicate with workers, Self-Insured empl! oyers or legal representatives and physicians concerning individual cases and appropriate application of the Industrial Insurance Act, pertinent rules and policies. Document legal analysis; prepare correspondence, legal orders and other reports. · Serve as "point of contact" assisting the Office of the Attorney General staff as needed in defense of claims appealed to the BIIA, Superior Court or a higher court. · Act as settlement authority for the department in mediation or litigation at the BIIA. Who should apply We seek individuals with a thorough knowledge of RCW's, WAC's, and case law and governing the workers' compensation system. Persons with one year of experience at the Workersâ Compensation Adjudicator 3 level or equivalent experience adjudicating complicated legal issues. Thorough knowledge of RCWâs, WACâs, and case law governing the workersâ compensation system.â What we are looking for: 1. Analytical skills, demonstrated ability to reason on disputed! claims, provide factual and legal analysis, and exercise judgment in complex cases. 2. Strong writing and documentation skills able to capture/articulate the facts used to formulate their decision to create a legally defensible record of each appeal. 3. Negotiation skills, ability to assess cases, evaluate risks, and negotiate effectively and professionally with parties. 4. Organized able to successfully manage a caseload appropriately prioritizes and concurrently services multiple, long-term case assignments. 5. Strong presentation skills able to present ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences 6. Problem Solver, ability to make timely decisions, identifies, and considers alternatives before making a decision. 7. Excel in a team environment, professional, respectful and courteous. Skilled listener, able to understand needs, concerns, and opinions. 8. A bachelorâs degree is desired.
