Location: Tulalip, Washington

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED required
BA degree in Social Work or related field required.
SKILLS:
Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
Must be able to type 35 wpm (Test required)
Must be able to create business correspondence, i.e. Memos, Letters, etc. (Test required)

EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years experience in the field of Social Services or related field

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must have valid Washington State driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current insurance (attach copies)
Knowledge of the ICW Act
Must have no misuse or abuse of alcohol or other mind altering chemicals for a period of two (2) years prior to employment or while employed with Tulalip Tribes
Knowledge of the Tribal and State Juvenile Court systems
Familiarity and support of the concepts of individualized and tailored care, Family Preservation Services, Family Reconciliation Services and Family Grou! p Conferences
Ability to handle crisis intervention and qu! ick thinking
A basic understanding of alcohol and other drugs, addiction and recovery
Must meet requirements of WAC 275-19-145.
Must be able to work in a culturally diverse environment
Must adhere to strict confidentiality of information seen or heard
Must have the tolerance and patience to deal with upset, angry, and/or frustrated people
Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or flexible hours as needed or requested.
Must have successful employment history with the Tulalip Tribes and/ or other employment entities

Employee Classification: Non-Exempt

Job Summary: The protection and preservation of Indian Children and their families, specifically prevention of child abuse.

Employee Reports To: Beda?Chelh Manager

Extent of Job Authority: To perform job tasks i accordance with the Tulalip Tribes Youth and Family Code and the Federa! l Indian Child Welfare Act.

SPECIFIC DUTIES PERFORMED :
Maintain confidentiality of all records, materials, and communications concerning the identity of clients. (CPR 42, Part 2
Maintain files and paperwork in an orderly and expeditious manner consistent with Tulalip Tribes Children and Family Codes.
Attend all staff meetings and training sessions as directed by supervisor.
Establishes and maintains working relationships with local courts and law enforcement.
Works with local Social and Health Services, DSHS, school district, educational and vocational services, and tribal staff.
Make referrals to supervisor needed by clients.
Adhere to the code of Ethics and Conduct as outlined in the WAC.
Participate in staff team building training/retreats and wellness activities.
Liaison between Tulalip Tribes beda?chelh Office and the DCFS-CPS Offices.
Represents the Tulalip Tribes in client related services and Court Systems. Provides for the care and emotional support for the children and fami! lies assigned prior to and through the court proceedings.
Staff/Client consultation with supervisor and alcohol/drug and mental health providers

Must be able to handle stressful and fast paced working environment.

Perform other related duties as deemed necessary.

Ongoing services to children and families where risk is high or there is court involvement including preparing court documents, testifying and representing the Tulalip Tribes beda?chelh and child.

Assesses risk of child abuse and neglect.

Provides crisis counseling and intervention to children and families that is goal directed, task centered and time limited.

Assesses need for out of home placement, prepares and counsels adults and children regarding the need for placement, separation of family members and loss, trauma, and the steps for reunification.

Interviews adults, children and community collaterals to assess degree of risk. Assesses service ! needs and program eligibility.

Develops and implements appropriate service plans including service agreements with clients which are goal directed, have specific behavioral objectives, are measurable and time limited.

In consultation with attorney, prepares and documents cases for court proceedings: prepares and presents written and oral testimony for court proceedings.

Provides case management services to facilitate out of home placements: reviews need for continued out of home care.

Referrals to beda?chelh and/or outside agencies as needed.

Work with the children’s administration and child protection services on investigations.

Participates in in-house case staffing, multidisciplinary and/or multi-agency case staffing.
