Attorney, CCG - LCA WSG/Business, Consumer and Public Sector Group
Microsoft is recruiting a legal professional to join the Legal and Corporate Affairs (LCA) team that supports the Consumer Channels Group (CCG).
The legal professional will be directly involved with Microsoft’s core mission to bring to market great device technologies and services such as personal computers, tablets, phones, game consoles, productivity applications and cloud services. CCG is responsible for driving share for these products and services through the consumer channels globally. The principle areas of focus for CCG are consumer-facing marketing, mobile operators, and retail. The position will report to the Assistant General Counsel for CCG and will be located at Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
Areas of responsibility include:
Serving as attorney and trusted advisor for the operator channel and central marketing clients.
Advising on a broad range of complex and strategic legal and business matters, including intellectual property, competition law, licensing, commercial transactions, marketing, consumer protection, privacy, security and other applicable compliance matters.
Coordinating with a global community of legal professionals who support the CCG business by managing the engagement model, delivering any required tools and training, and effectively communicating new programs and processes.
Working effectively with internal teams including CCG executives, their reports, finance, operations, Microsoft subsidiaries, and multiple product groups to help analyze legal risks, resolve issues and implement overall business strategy.
Driving greater internal efficiencies for both legal and business groups through the development or redesign of legal support processes, licensing programs, template licensing documents, and Microsoft technologies.
Structuring, drafting, and negotiating agreements for licensing, distribution, and marketing for retail and operator channel partners, with an emphasis on business simplicity.
Experience and qualifications:
J.D. or equivalent degree and excellent academic credentials
Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a practicing business attorney, with in-house or top law firm experience.
A strong understanding of business issues and a pragmatic, commercial orientation, preferably with relevant experience in the distribution and licensing of software and online services.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across many diverse internal legal and business groups with a sense of urgency.
Demonstrated ability to identify and prioritize key deliverables, work efficiently, and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Familiar with consumer, retail and competition law issues a plus.
Desire to work as part of a team, and with the ability to take initiative and motivate others, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
