In Seattle, Washington, an industrial engineer helps a Zambian health official develop a plan to transport medical supplies to rural villages.
The Legal Affairs division supports PATH's work by providing strategic legal counsel, education, and guidance to enhance compliance and minimize risk. The division currently consists of a general counsel, seven attorneys, three paralegals and a three-person administrative support team.
The Attorney will be the primary point of contact for PATHâs field operations. The Attorney will draft and negotiate complex funding agreements, memoranda of understanding, corporate agreements and other agreement types; consult with local outside counsel and provide advice with regard to local laws for establishing and operating new offices worldwide, and perform legal research. Duties and responsibilities include:
Review and identify legal issues, identify potential problems, and recommend improvements and action.
Draft and negotiate agreements.
Perform legal research as needed in support of PATH programs and technologies.
Provide counsel with respect to local laws and requirements for the establishment of office facilities at PATH sites throughout the world.
Provide counsel on corporate governance matters.
Required Skills
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
Strong research, analytical, and investigative skills.
Ability to conduct legal research and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Able to work independently, but comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
Good time management skills; able to handle multiple client matters on aggressive time frames.
Licensed to practice law; licensure in the State of Washington a plus.
Proficiency in French a plus.
Required Experience
Law Degree, plus a minimum of five years of transactional experience, preferably in the life sciences; may be an equivalent combination of education and experience.
