We are looking for an individual with a strong intellect, substa! ntial hands-on litigation experience, with particular emphasis on patent litigation, and very strong written and oral communication skills. This attorney needs to thrive in a complex, fast-paced, and dynamic business environment, and also enjoy collaboration and teamwork with fellow attorneys and business partners.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Litigation Attorney will be part of a team of litigation specialists reporting the Vice President and Chief Litigation Counsel, and will be expected to effectively:
Drive offensive and defensive litigation matters to a favorable outcomes for IV
Serve as a lead architect of patent litigations across diverse industries and technologies
Research and select the strongest outside litigation attorneys and experts to support and execute IV’s litigation initiatives
Collaborate with and manage outside litigation counsel and experts through all stages of litigation preparation and execution
Serve as a l! ead negotiator in settling litigation disputes
Develop and! implement strategies to enhance IV’s processes for efficient and cost effective management of litigation matters
Develop and manage budgets and financial plans for IV’s litigation matters
Develop and provide internal training and other programs regarding litigation related issues Key Qualifications and Required Skills:
A qualified candidate has the following attributes:
A minimum of 5 years of patent litigation experience with a reputable law firm
In-house litigation experience preferred, but not required
Trial and other courtroom experience is a plus
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
Engineering or science-based degree is desirable
Experience managing paralegals and other attorneys on litigation projects
Ability and desire to work collaboratively on a team
Ability to communicate information effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to quickly assimilate and understand complex situati! ons and information, including highly technical information
Capacity to proactively isolate and prioritize issues and to focus on implementing both top-level, strategic solutions as well as the day-to-day initiatives
Sound legal and business judgment
Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills
Able to establish credibility and trust quickly
Prompt admission to the Washington State Bar, by reciprocity or exam, if not already admitted in WA
