Duties:
The incumbent performs duties related to the receipt, intake, transfer, and indexing of health and administrative information. Utilizing the co! mputer, indexes scanned documents into a database to be accessed in the Computerized Patient Records System (CPRS). Reviews and researches medical reports from non-VA health care facilities making a determination as to which documents are to be scanned based on the medical records policy. Assists in training clinic and other clerical personnel in scanning key documents created on a concurrent basis, e.g., advance directives, power of attorney, consents, conscious sedation flow sheets, etc. Maintains a daily productivity log of scanning and indexing activities. Incumbent has access to sensitive data that must be protected under the Privacy Act and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Interacts with patients, visitors, staff, and the public. Provides authorized medical and administrative staff with medical and administrative records. Performs tasks associated with the proper storage, movement and maintenance of medical records. Processes requests for records f! or appointments, transfer of care, quality assurance, etc. in ! a timely manner.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30pm

Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.

Qualifications & Evaluations

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement

Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

Specialized Experience:
I have at least one (1) year of general experience which involved progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of a File Clerk.

OR

I have successfully completed two (2) years of education above high school.This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college! , college or university.

OR

I have an equivalent combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience to meet the total experience requirements.

You will be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics (KSAOs) based on your application for this position.

KSA 1 - Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy.
