General summary of duties: Responsible for the operational and administrative functions associated with physicians, patients and empl! oyees. Handles 'release of information' requests for patients, referring offices, other medical facilities, attorneys & insurance companies. Answers phones and handles calls in an efficient and friendly manner. Arranges interpreter accommodations for patients when appropriate.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of medical clinic office procedures
- Able to identify and resolve administrative and operational problems and issues
- Familiar with JCAHO and state operating requirements
- Strong understanding of medical insurance plans, pre-authorization requirements and referral procedures
- Able to provide innovative input into the development of office processes and procedures
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, co-workers and the public
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively
- Strong software skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel;! Advanced MD
- Ability to work independently in a fast ! paced environment
- Strong work ethic; able to maintain regular attendance and on-time arrival to work as scheduled
- Highly organized and able to prioritize work
- Responsible for the professional administration of all duties associated with physicians, patients and employees
- Ensures that next day schedules are complete, including paperwork and orders
- Assists with patient account registration
- Creates and maintains patient medical files as well as all employment files
- Responsible for all mail and fax distribution
- Responds to all faxed requests for medication refills
- Ensures employees are correctly administering time sheets and that the time submitted for payment is accurate
- Performs check-in, check-out, scheduling, insurance verification and payment collection processes as required in response to office demands
- Ensures the efficient! operation of the office through proper employee scheduling
- Assists Medical Biller with billing and collection procedures
- Responds to patient account inquiries (checks for accurate insurance reimbursement & open charges)
- Negotiates and arranges financial arrangements w/patients
- Elevates office issues and/or employee concerns to appropriate party
- Responsible for ensuring that patient service needs are met
- Monitors patient service feedback and contributes to the process of resolving complaints and services issues
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with vendors, lawyers, employees and physicians
- Maintains front office lobby area such as straightening magazines, organizing coffee supplies, and general office clean up
- Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA and safety guidelines
- High school graduate
- Must have a workin! g knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- 1 - 2 years of custom! er service experience
- Previous medical front office experience
- Medical terminology
- Ability to type 50 wpm
